Don’t Wait to Live
I watched an episode of House last week.
There was a scenario where Wilson told someone they only had six months left to live. Three months later, he called the patient into his office… Fortunately, his diagnosis was wrong. The patient didn’t actually have a tumor. He was healthy.
Personally, I’d be ecstatic… but this patient wasn’t. He was, believe it or not, upset. He had just quit his job, sold his house, and bought plane tickets to Venice. Wilson told him that, “You know… being alive means that you can still get a job, a house, and use that ticket to go to Venice…” The patient responded with:
You showed me what it was like to live. Now you’re going to take that away from me.
It’s unfortunate that some people wait until being faced with death to start living.
Whatever you are doing today, I hope you’re enjoying it.

Great thoughts
Nice post Andy…I too saw this episode. For me, especially in these times, it seems harder than ever to make a change, even if you don’t like what you’re currently doing. Maybe it’s a fear of change or a fear of losing what you already have, even if what you have isn’t what you really want.
Sorry I’m behind in my blog reading. My best friend died almost a year ago at the tender age of 26. The greatest lesson I learned from that is to live life. Great post. I really related to it.
