A “Do Not Text” list?
Remember back in 2003 when we thought the “Do Not Call” List was such a great idea? What are your thoughts on a “Do Not Text” List?
Mobile marketing is an ever growing industry. According to a recent study by In-Stat, mobile marketing revenues for this year are predicted to reach $1.5 billion in 2008. Not bad… considering that the entire industry didn’t exist a few years ago.
But will mobile marketing explode like many people think?
The goal in marketing has forever been to find a way to reach the perfect customer and engage them. The closest thing we have thus far is Facebook ads… which can allow you to target a person’s sex, age, education, or interests.
Texting someone’s phone is taking “targeting consumers” to a whole new level. (FYI - According to spell check, “texting” is not a word… I wonder how much longer that will last.)
Think of when e-mail first started… that probably seemed like a gold mine at the time, too. But then we started getting all kinds of spam. And now we have a junk mail filter because it’s gotten out of hand. Will the same thing happen with text messaging?
My cell phone is my personal space. Sometimes I won’t answer a phone call if my caller i.d. doesn’t show a name… The last thing I want is to receive random text messages from companies I have absolutely no interest in.
If there happens to be a “Do Not Text” list in the near future, you can bet I’ll sign up in a heartbeat.

I have to say, that I can not agree with you in 100%, but that’s just my IMHO, which indeed could be wrong.
p.s. You have an awesome template for your blog. Where did you find it?
I am almost brand new to blogging and really like your post, it is really on target.
